The U.S. Department of Labor’s IndyPendence Job Corps Center has announced that the non-residential campus will now be accepting male students. The campus began the transition from a women-only center to a coed experience in an effort to serve more Indianans and expand the center’s impact on the Indianapolis workforce.

“Opening up our enrollment to males allows us to be a viable education and training resource that needs caring, understanding and forward-thinking people in its corner,” said Reginald Porter, site director for the IndyPendence Job Corps Center.

The shift to coed will expand student enrollment and training areas, with the campus already aiming to add manufacturing technician training, a program that would provide students with direct placement opportunities.

IndyPendence Job Corps Center recently hosted a grand opening ceremony for its new location inside BMO Plaza in downtown Indianapolis. The campus offers education and career training to Job Corps students interested in certified nurse assistant or office administration careers.
